kickass-bigdaddyKick-Ass the Matthew Vaughn (Stardust) directed adaptation of Mark Millar’s (Wanted) graphic novel has had another poster appear online along with a hilarious clip. The first trailer had me sold on seeing this and this new poster and clip just adds to my anticipation. NOTE: this is a red band clip, so it’s R rated. Kick-Ass whoops ass into theaters on April 16, 2010 Source (UGO)

A pretty big rumor about casting for The Hobbit appeared over on Latino Review. Is Tobey Maguire in line to play Bilbo Baggins?

Speaking of…  It was announced that the Lord of the Rings trilogy will finally be coming to Blu Ray. It’s out on April 6, 2010. It’s worth noting that the nine(!?!) disc box set will only contain the theatrical cuts of the films.

Mel Gibson is going back in time, yet again, this time with Vikings. Leonardo Dicaprio is set to star in the untitled film. (Variety)

Yet more leaky promo material today by way of the Riddley Scott (Alien) directed Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. This may not work by the time this publishes so apologies in advance if it doesn’t. Universal was promising an HD copy on Apple some time Tuesday. Enjoy another minute thirty of period imagery and heavy metal music. Robin Hood is out May 14th, 2010

The American Film Institute (AFI) has released their movies of the year list. If you follow the source link they also have their picks in television as well.
The Hangover
The Hurt Locker
The Messenger

A Serious Man
A Single Man
Up in the Air

One of the Lost in Reviews staff favorite films this year Inglorious Basterds is out on Blu Ray and DVD today. In celebration of that and to close out this busy Tuesday news post here is Basterds director Quentin Tarantio’s top films for 2009, so far. (The Hollywood Reporter)
