There has been some negative press on other sites about John Carter. I do not get the reason for it because to me, it looks like a very interesting story and has some great visuals. The cast is not too shabby either. I thought the first trailer was pretty awesome. Although the story is not really explained, I thought everything in the trailer looked fantastic and made me excited to see the film. The second trailer was released today, first on Good Morning America, and now online at IGN. I waited for it to pop up online to watch it because I like to see trailers in HD if I can.
The second trailer shows more of the story and the creatures of this world. It really comes off as Gladiator meets Star Wars. Still excited, still intrigued.
Taylor Kitsch is the star and it looks like Lynn Collins (Wolverine, True Blood) will be the main co-star. The rest of the cast includes Daryl Sabara, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe (who voices one of the aliens). Oscar-winning Andrew Stanton is directing and this will be his first non-animated film (he’s a big Pixar filmmaker).
