The full line-up for the Cannes Film Festival was announced today, and the world premiere of Cosmopolis will be in Cannes. The film will also be in competition at the fest, which spells good things for the flick. The full trailer for the film came out today as well. The teaser gave a glimpse of what kind of film it would be and the full trailer gives you a lot more. Much of it takes place in a limo and the film addresses greed, violence, sex, and the state of our world. In other words, don’t bring your kid to this one.
I love David Cronenberg. I love both of his last two films, Eastern Promises and A History of Violence. His last film was A Dangerous Method was a departure from his normal films, but it was still a pretty good flick, subdued in the violence department. Cosmopolis is based on the book by Don DeLillo. Cronenberg wrote the screenplay as well as directed the film. Robert Pattinson is the star of the film, playing the main character, Eric Packer. He is joined by a slew of actors including Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti, Kevin Durand, Juliette Binoche, and Sarah Gadon.
This seems like a very violent, strange, and naughty film, and I like it.

His cross-town journey becomes an almost vertical voyage, with bizarre occurrences and an authentic parade of crazy characters along the way, in a landscape that depicts the modern soul of the West at the end of the millennium.”
Cosmopolis does not have a US release date yet, but go see it at Cannes next month if you are lucky enough to be able to do that.
