It has been a while since the first trailer for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was released late last year. Today, the second trailer made its way online. This trailer is longer, giving us a better look at the what scenes from the book may be in the film. It seems to be following the beginning of the book fairly close. This is the first time we really get to see some of the characters and their actors for more than a glimpse compared to the first trailer.
The film stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower, Jared Harris, Robert Sheehan, Kevin Zegers, Aidan Turner, Lena Headey, Jemima West, Godfrey Gao, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Harald Zwart directed the film based on a script by Jessica Postigo Paquette adapted from Cassandra Clare’s novel of the same name. So yes, if this film does well, there are a few more books waiting in the wings to be adapted.
Overall, I think I still prefer the first trailer since it is what made me believe this might be a worthwhile adaptation of the novel, not just some quickie to make some bucks off some fans.
The song used in the trailer is “All I Need” by Radiohead.
The three new posters are included in this post, and I also added a gallery below of the previously released official stills.
“Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series.”
The Mortal Intstruments: City of Bones is in theatres August 23, 2013.
