Lost in Previews: ‘Elysium’ Trailer 2

ElysiumThe second trailer for Elysium is here and it clocks in at over three minutes.  That is why it is being called an extended trailer.  I have a pretty good feeling that those of you seeing Man of Steel tomorrow will be seeing this running before it.  I would go see Man of Steel just to see this trailer on the big screen.  This trailer explains so much more than the first trailer does.  It gives Matt Damon’s character of Max De Costa a reason for arming himself with all the stuff he has attached to his body.  The trailer also explains more about the society on Earth and why people are willing to risk death to get to Elysium.  The trailer also shows that Sharlto Copley’s character of Kruger is an enemy to Max.

The film also stars Jodie Foster, Alice Braga, Diego Luna, William Fichtner, and Wagner Moura.

“In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.  The people of Earth are desperate to escape the planet’s crime and poverty, and they critically need the state-of-the-art medical care available on Elysium – but some in Elysium will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve their citizens’ luxurious lifestyle.  The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium.  With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.”

Elysium is in theatres August 9, 2013.
