Tuesday, October 1st, The Naked and Famous made a stop at the House of Blues Dallas in support of their newest release In Rolling Waves.
I had already seen this New Zealand band when they were in town at The Granada Theater and it was a fabulous show. It was just after they had released the album Passive Me, Aggressive You and their song “Youngblood” was just picking up radio time.
I was excited to see them again, and they did not disappoint.. This five piece band consists of Alisa Xayalithon on vocals and keys, Thom Powers on vocals and guitars, Aaron Short on keyboards, Jesse Wood on drums, and David Beadle providing bass. They took the stage backed by a lighting system that could switch back and forth between a bright and modern feel or a dark and moody vibe which suits their music to a tee. I am a huge fan of Xayalith’s voice (and she looked fabulous sporting a cute new pixie cut) and she showcased it to the max during this show, particularly during my favorite song of the night “Hearts Like Ours.” Other crowd favorites included “A Stillness,” “Youngblood,” “Punching in a Dream,” and “I Kill Giants.”
Their newest release In Rolling Waves is available now and if you are looking to catch them live, they have upcoming shows in Atlanta on October 5th and two shows in Washington DC on the 6th and 7th.
