Fans of The Divergent Series attending SXSW will get a special treat courtesy of Samsung and Lionsgate. The studio and tech giant have announced a special virtual reality promotion that will allow fans to experience the story’s thrilling stunts for themselves.
The “Insurgent – Shatter Reality” VR experience will be at SXSW Interactive in Austin, TX. The four-minute “tour” uses Samsung Gear VR to take fans through three unique environments, two of which are “fear” simulations – just like in the story. Stars from the film are also included in the experience’s action. If you’re scared of heights or getting run over by a train, just remember this is not for the faint of heart. 3D graphics and stereo sound put you right in the action.
In addition to a SXSW stop, “Insurgent – Shatter Reality” will be available in select US cities over the coming weeks. The new film, Insurgent, opens on March 20.
