The SXSW 2016 Film Festival has announced Richard Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some” as its opening night film.
The comedic sports film from the director of “Boyhood” will celebrate its world premiere during the Austin, TX, festival on March 11, 2016. It follows a group of college baseball players as they navigate unsupervised adulthood in the 1980s.

He also founded the Austin Film Society in 1985 and continues to serve as its Artistic Director. Linklater directed and wrote “Everybody Wants Some.”
As a sports-related film, all SXSW attendees with Film, Interactive, Gold and Platinum badges will have access to attend. More information about attending and registering for the festival is available at sxsw.com.
Though the film premieres during the March festival, it will see its wide release April 15, 2016.
