The Watch was formerly known as Neighborhood Watch and is a comedy film regarding an alien invasion on Earth. The folks at IGN got the exclusive on the red band trailer (due to language) for the flick. I had not previously known about this film, so it is all new to me. The trailer is decently funny, but does not really focus on aliens too much other than the green goo that comes from the aliens’ bodies. The comedy stars Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade as the group of friends investigating the alien invasion. The film costars Billy Crudup, Doug Jones, Jorma Taccone, Will Forte, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Nicholas Braun. Akiva Schaffer directed The Watch while Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote the screenplay.
“Four everyday suburban guys come together as an excuse to escape their humdrum lives one night a week. But when they accidentally discover that their town has become overrun with aliens posing as ordinary suburbanites, they have no choice but to save their neighborhood — and the world — from total extermination.”
The Watch is in theatres July 25, 2012.
